Pelvic Floor Care for Runners and Lifters in Albuquerque
Leaking during double-unders, a heavy squat or mile 10 is common, but it isn't just part of the sport. You shouldn't have to skip jump rope, wear a pad to the gym or cut runs short to avoid a bathroom emergency. Pelvic floor physical therapy helps you train hard without leaking, pressure or pain.
Sound familiar?
You leak during jumping, running, box jumps or heavy lifts
You feel pressure or heaviness after a long run or a big lifting day
You avoid certain movements or wear dark shorts "just in case"
Low back, hip, hamstring or SI joint pain keeps coming back
You're returning to running or lifting after having a baby
You've been told to "just do Kegels," and it hasn't helped
How physical therapy helps
Your pelvic floor has to handle a lot of pressure every time you land, brace or lift. When it isn't keeping up with the load, or it's working too hard, leaking, pressure and pain show up. Physical therapy looks at how your breathing, core, hips and pelvic floor work together under load, then builds a plan that fits your training, so you can keep doing what you love instead of stopping.
What to expect
Your first visit is a one-on-one evaluation. We'll talk through your training, symptoms and goals, then look at how you breathe, brace and move, including the movements that bring on your symptoms. With your consent, this may include an internal pelvic exam, which is always optional. You'll leave with a clear plan and changes you can bring to your next workout.

Common questions
Do I have to stop training? Usually not. Our goal is to keep you training while we work on the cause, adjusting your program only as much as needed.
When can I return to running or lifting after having a baby? It depends on your body, not just the calendar. We'll check your strength and control, then build you back up step by step.
Do you work with my coach? Happily. With your permission, I can share guidelines with your coach or trainer.
